Coolant Temperature, Check with Cooling System Closed

Install measurement adapter in heater hose and measure temperature.

On DOHC engine connect adapter between heater hose and connection piece on cylinder head.

The adapter can be ordered from the P & A Department, Catalogue No. 17 57 230 (90 141 985).

Operating temperature of engine is approx. 80°C/176°F coolant temperature, which increases according to engine load.

Range of instrument panel gauge

1 =  approx. 50 to  70.5 °C/122 to 158 °F

2 =  approx. 50 to  80.0 °C/122 to 176 °F

3 =  approx. 50 to 100.0 °C/122 to 212 °F

4 =  approx. 50 to 125.0 °C/122 to 257 °F

Remove measurement adapter after completing measurement.
