Piston Projection, Check (16 DA, 17 D)

Position Dial Gauge support on engine block.

Place probe tip on piston head and set Dial Gauge at "0".

Turn Dial Gauge support until probe tip of Dial Gauge rests on sealing surface of engine block.

Read measured value.

Select correct cylinder head gasket.

Example:

Measured value = 0.52 = required seal of 1.3 mm/0.05 in. = seal without identification mark.
