This Technical Information Bulletin replaces TI-C-65, J-173 dated August 1990

 

 

Subject:             Diesel Injection Pump, Type Lucas CAV OP 02 DPC R8443 B55 OA.

 

 

Vehicles:           Kadett-E/Astra/Belmont, Vectra/Cavalier with 1.7 D engines.

 

 

Condition:         Engine misfiring, rough engine running.

 

 

Cause:               Leaky fuel lines/connections.

In repeated cases, injection pumps were returned under warranty with the condition "defective pump".

A check at the manufacturer's plant indicated that most of the pumps were in good condition and that the place to look for the fault is the fuel system.

 

Remedy:     C    Check fuel system for leaks. For this, pressurize fuel tank with 0.05 bar/0.725 psi and check all lines and connections for escaping fuel. Eliminate leaks.

 

Note:                 Ensure that the filter is filled with fuel during installation and that the immersion pipe is present. Pump adjustment according to TI-C-57, group J-138, dated April 1989 and TI-C-36, group J-164, dated March 1990.

 

Time Allowance:

 

The labour required for these operations can be calculated as a Special Allowance.
