Subject: Diesel Injection Pump, Type Lucas CAV OP 02 DPC R8443 B55 OA.
Vehicles: Kadett-E/Astra/Belmont, Vectra/Cavalier with 1.7 D engines.
Condition: Engine misfiring, rough engine running.
Cause: Leaky fuel lines/connections. In repeated cases, injection pumps were returned under warranty with the condition "defective pump". A check at the manufacturer's plant indicated that most of the pumps were in good condition and that the place to look for the fault is the fuel system.
Remedy: C Check fuel system for leaks. For this, pressurize fuel tank with 0.05 bar/0.725 psi and check all lines and connections for escaping fuel. Eliminate leaks.
Note: Ensure that the filter is filled with fuel during installation and that the immersion pipe is present. Pump adjustment according to TI-C-57, group J-138, dated April 1989 and TI-C-36, group J-164, dated March 1990.
