Remove
piston rings using piston ring expander.
Remove
carbon deposits from grooves using broken piston ring filed to a wedge.
When
installing new piston rings, ensure that second piston ring is marked
"TOP" and that ring gaps are offset by 180°.
Ensure
that gap in upper rail of oil scraper ring is offset by 25 to 50 mm/0.98 to
1.97 in. to left and that gap in lower rail is offset 25 to 50 mm/0.98 to
1.97 in. to right with reference to gap in spacer ring.
Tension
piston ring in cylinder and measure gap with feeler gauge.

Data.
