By-pass Valve in Oil Circuit, Replace

Unscrew oil filter cartridge using commercially available tool.

Before removal, place a drain tray under the filter.

Unscrew oil leads - from oil cooler to adapter - at adapter.

Close oil leads and oil boreholes at adapter using plugs.

Unscrew threaded bolt (arrow) and remove adapter.

Cut thread in lock washer using Tap M 10 (3rd stage). Screw in bolt M 10 and remove bypass valve.

For installation, use a drift with a diameter of approx. 15 mm (0.6 in.).

Knock bypass valve into recess up to stop.

Further installation is in reverse order.

       Note:    Use new rubber O-seal for adapter. Fill new oil filter cartridge with engine oil.

Check engine oil level and top up to "max." mark on dipstick if required.
