Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring, Replace
Remove
Remove clutch and thrust bearing.
See corresponding operation in group K.
Remove flywheel.
See corresponding operation.
Remove guide sleeve for thrust bearing (arrows).
Insert Remover Hook KM-665 between seal lip and crankshaft bearing journal.
Insert Support KM-469-4 into Lever KM-469-13-A as shown in illustration and lock with Pin KM-328-8.
Insert Lever and Support into borehole in crankshaft bearing journal, lift Remover Hook and fasten it in long slot of Lever.
Pull out seal ring in direction of arrow.
Install
Drill Hex Bolt KM-469-12-A approx 5 mm/0.2" deeper using 14 mm/0.55" drill or use KM-469-12-B.
Insert locating pin from KM-511-11 into retaining borehole of thrust bearing guide sleeve and fasten to transmission casing.
Coat sealing lip of new shaft seal ring with protective grease Catalogue No. 19 48 814 (90 001 804).
Press Installer KM-635-2 into sealing ring.
Place Protective Sleeve KM-635-1 with crankshaft seal ring on crankshaft bearing journal.
Insert Installer KM-635-2 and press shaft seal ring into engine block until flush using Hex Bolt KM-469-12-A/B.
Insert new shaft seal ring into guide sleeve for thrust bearing and rubber O-ring into transmission casing.
Further installation is in reverse order.
