Subject: Selection of Fuel, Octane Number Coding
Vehicles: All Vehicles Equipped with an Octane
Number Plug
As
of February 1989, in some cases new octane number plugs have been factory
installed. As a supplement to TI-C-32, J-112, dated January 1988, the tables
below display the octane number plugs installed as of this date.
Note:
When
the vehicle is being handed over by the sales personnel, the customer should
once again be instructed as to the function and proper coding of the octane
number plug.
Use
of fuel with a lower than required octane number due to wrong coding, e.g. 91
RON instead of 95 RON can cause damage to the vehicle engine.
