Subject: Octane Number Plug (Octane Number
Coding), Selection of Fuel
Vehicles: All Vehicles with an Octane Number Plug
As of Model Year '90, in some
cases new octane number plugs have been factory installed. As a supplement to
TI-C-48, J-136 dated March 1989, the tables below display the octane number
plugs installed as of this date.
Note:
When the vehicle is being
handed over by the sales personnel, the customer should once again be
instructed as to the function and proper coding of the octane number plug.
Use of fuel with a lower than
required octane number due to wrong coding, e.g. RON 91 instead of RON 95, can
cause damage to the vehicle engine.
