Checking

 

 

Checking with TECH 1

 

Note: The program modules must be replaced or inserted only with the ignition OFF by pressing both outer catches.

TECH 1, Connect to Vehicle

 

Before connecting the instrument one should observe the TECH 1 Operating Instructions.

 

· Ignition OFF.

· Remove sealing cap from bulkhead side of diagnostic plug.

· Connect TECH 1 to diagnostic plug in engine compartment.

· The diagnostic plug is located on the left side of the engine compartment on the bulkhead.

The language menu appears in the display of TECH 1.

 

· Answer question "DISPLAY CAPTURED DATA FROM LAST" SNAPSHOT with "NO"

· Type in model year - key 9 = model year 1989

· Identify and acknowledge vehicle type

· Engine OFF, ignition ON

 

"AUTOMATIC SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION?" YES/NO? appears in display

 

If "YES" key is pressed, each electronic system present which is equipped with self-diagnosis is checked automatically.

If there are any Trouble Codes present, they will be displayed.

 

If the "NO" key is pressed, one must then select the electronic system that is to be checked.

In this case, the electronic MSTS with self-diagnosis.

If one or more faults are stored in the control unit, these will be shown in the display.

· Note Trouble Codes.

· Select F0:DATA LIST with "YES" key

· Start engine (operating temperature)

· Compare all data shown in the display with the nominal values in the Checking Procedures

· With deviations from the nominal values carry out trouble-shooting according to instructions.
