Camshaft and Rocker Arms, Replace

Remove battery and air cleaner.

Mark position of distributor and remove.

Unbolt toothed belt covering.

Unbolt fuel pump.

Fuel lines remain connected.

Unbolt camshaft housing cover.

Remove V-belt.

Turn piston to centre position - 90° crankshaft before TDC.

Remove toothed belt and camshaft gear.

Install commercially available "valve compressor" and depress all rocker arms evenly.

Unbolt thrust washer and pull camshaft from camshaft housing.

Release and remove valve compressor, remove rocker arms from camshaft housing.

Thickly coat sliding areas of rocker arms and camshaft with molybdenum disulfide paste.

Install rocker arms and tension using valve compressor.

Carefully guide camshaft into camshaft housing. Remove valve compressor and bolt on thrust washer. Mount camshaft gear and install toothed belt. Bolt on camshaft housing cover.

Install fuel pump, toothed belt covering and distributor.

Mount battery and air cleaner.
