Needle Bearing in Crankshaft, Replace

Remove and install clutch.

See corresponding operation in Group K.

Remove and install flywheel.

See corresponding operation in this group.

The needle bearing is pulled from its seat using Remover KM-469-A in conjunction with KM-328-9.

Remove

Insert KM-328-9 into needle bearing.

Insert Support KM-469-3 (OHV engine) or KM-469-4 (OHC engine) in bearing journal underneath KM-328-9.

Insert Lever KM-469-13-A in Support and Remover Hook and lock with Pins KM-328-8.

Press out needle bearing.

Install

Insert Retaining Plate KM-469-11-A (OHV and 12 ST, 13 N, 13 SC, C 13 N OHC engines) or KM-511-11 (OHC engines 16 SH, 16 D, 18 E, C 18 NE, C 18 NT) in clutch housing.

To do this, insert centering pins (arrows) in fastening holes of thrust bearing guide sleeve.

Insert needle bearing in bore in crankshaft.

Chamfered side of bearing faces journal. Place Centering Disc KM-469-2 (OHV engines) or KM-469-1 (OHC engines) on needle bearing and tighten Pressure Bolt KM-469-12-A by hand until it rests on Centering Disc.

Press in needle bearing until Centering Disc is seated snugly against bearing journal.

Install flywheel and clutch.
