Engine, Remove and Install

Remove air cleaner.

Detach upper and lower coolant hoses from thermostat and water pump. Drain coolant.

Catch coolant in drip tray.

Detach heater hoses from water pump and cylinder head.

Detach fuel hose from fuel pump and separate fuel return line.

Detach bowden cables for throttle valve and choke valve from carburettor.

Detach vacuum line from brake servo.

Disconnect electric cables from oil pressure switch. Disconnect ground strap and positive cable from battery.

Part multiple plug of engine wiring harness.

Press lock and pull plug apart.

Disconnect cable from ignition coil.

Disconnect ignition cable from distributor.

Pull out drive shaft.

See corresponding operation in Group K.

Detach exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

Unbolt lower fastening bolts from clutch housing to engine block.

Attach cables to engine and fasten engine to hoist. Completely remove right front engine mounting. Support transmission with vehicle jack.

Unscrew upper fastening bolts from clutch housing to engine block.

Push engine from clutch housing and remove engine upwards from engine compartment.

Install engine.

Lower engine into engine compartment and guide into centre of clutch housing.

Screw in upper fastening bolts from clutch housing to engine block.

Install right front engine mounting.

Remove cables from engine and support from transmission.

Fasten exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold.

Screw in lower fastening bolts from clutch housing to engine block.

Mount drive shaft.

Connect positive cable to battery positive terminal. Connect ignition cable to distributor and ignition coil. Connect multiple plug.

Connect fuel line to fuel pump.

Connect fuel return line.

Mount hose clamps.

Mount bowden cables for throttle valve and choke valve free of tension.

Attach heater hose, upper and lower coolant hoses to thermostat housing.

Install air cleaner.

Fill cooling system through expansion tank. Bleed cylinder head through heater hose connection.

Fill coolant into expansion tank until it escapes at connection.

Mount heater hose.

Continue to fill coolant as far as "KALT" mark.

Connect ground strap to battery.
