Oil Pan Gasket, Replace

Drain engine oil.

Reinstall plug with new seal ring immediately after draining oil and tighten.

Observe prescribed torque.

Unbolt engine support from clutch housing and engine block.

Remove oil pan.

Clean remaining gasket pieces from engine block and oil pan sealing surfaces.

Apply a bead (approx. 3 mm/0.12 in. diameter) of sealing compound Catalogue No. 15 03 294 (90 001 851) to rear edges of rear crankshaft bearing cover and cylinder block and between front edges of front bearing cover and cylinder block and to cylinder block sealing surface itself.

Position gasket on sealing surfaces of engine block and bearing cover.

After placing gasket in position, apply further bead of sealing compound to rear edges of rear crankshaft bearing cover and between front edges of front bearing cover.

Bolt on oil pan - observe prescribed torque.

Fill engine oil.
