Timing Case Cover, Remove and Install

Loosen tensioning bar of alternator.

Remove V-belt and crankshaft V-belt pulley.

Unbolt timing case cover.

Remove gasket from sealing surfaces.

Stick new gasket in place with a little grease at several points.

Lubricate crankshaft seal ring in timing case cover with molybdenum disulfide paste Catalogue No. 19 48 524 (90 001 825).

Push on timing case cover together with crankshaft V-belt pulley.

Lightly fasten cover to timing case rear plate with several bolts.

Pull off pulley and evenly bolt cover to rear plate of timing case, alternating crosswise. Install and tighten crankshaft pulley observe prescribed torque.

Mount and tension V-belt and tighten alternator mounting.
