·   Fuse/socket F 21 defective (Corsa-B only)

·   Fuse/socket F 28 defective (Astra-F only)

·   Fuse/socket F 7 defective (Vectra/Cavalier only)

from:      brake lamp switch wiring harness plug Ter. 1

to:          fuse F 7, or F 21, or F 28

·   Short circuit to ground, Ter. 31

·   Actuate brake pedal

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from:      brake lamp switch S 8/S 116 Ter. 1

to:          brake lamp switch S 8/S 116 Ter. 2

 

 

less than 2 W

 

·   Brake lamp switch S 8/S 116 defective.

 

·   Measure voltage:

from:      brake lamp switch wiring harness plug Ter. 2

to:          ground, Ter. 31

·   Short circuit to voltage

              (el. selector lever lock/Park Brake Shift Lock/Japan only)

 

·   Connect brake lamp switch wiring harness plug Ter. 1 with Ter. 2

 

Brake lamps OFF

·   Short circuit to ground, Ter. 31

from:      brake lamp switch S 8 Ter. 2

to:          brake lamps H 9 and H 10,

 

              ABS control unit wiring harness plug K 50 Ter. 13 (Corsa-B only),

 

              ABS control unit wiring harness plug U 4.8 Ter. 1 (Astra-F only),

 

              Multi-Info-Display wiring harness plug X 20 Ter. 4 (Astra-F only),

 

              Check Control wiring harness plug P 25 Ter. 12 (Astra-F only),

 

              Check Control wiring harness plug P 39 Ter. 54E (Vectra/Cavalier only),

 

              Check Control wiring harness plug P 39 Ter. 54A or brake lamp H 30

              (Vectra/Cavalier and Austria versions only),

·   Lead interruption (ground connection)

from:      brake lamps H 9, H 10 or H 30

to:          ground, Ter. 31

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Reconnect brake lamp switch wiring harness plug

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from transmission control unit K 85

 

 

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          ground, Ter. 31

 

less than 0.1 V

 

·   Short circuit to voltage, Ter. 30

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          brake lamp switch S 8 Ter. 2 or brake lamp switch S 116 Ter. 2

 

·   Ignition ON

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          ground, Ter. 31

 

 

less than 0.1 V

 

 

·   Short circuit to voltage, Ter. 15

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          brake lamp switch S 8 Ter. 2 or brake lamp switch S 116 Ter. 2

 

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          ground, Ter. 31

 

greater than 11 V

 

·   Short circuit to ground, Ter. 31

from:      transmission control unit plug K 85 Ter. 26

to:          brake lamp switch S 8 Ter. 2 or brake lamp switch S 116 Ter. 2

·   Lead interruption
