Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect from transmission control unit wiring harness plug

·   Remove selector lever cover

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance between

solder points on winter program tip switch S 105:

"Winter program" tip switch not pressed

     "Winter program" tip switch pressed

greater than 100 kW (¥)

less than 2 W

·   Winter program tip switch S 105 defective.

·   Ignition ON

·   Measure voltage (press winter program tip switch several times):

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          ground, Ter. 31

less than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          "Winter program" tip switch Ter. A

from:      "Winter program" tip switch Ter. B

to:          ground, Ter. 31

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          ground, Ter. 31

greater than 100 kW (¥)

·   Short circuit to ground

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          Winter program tip switch Ter. A

·   Press "winter program" tip switch S 105

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          ground, Ter. 31

less than 2 W

·   Circuit interruption

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 21

to:          "Winter program" tip switch Ter. A

from:      "Winter program" tip switch Ter. B

to:          ground, Ter. 31

If nominal values are attained

·   Transmission control unit defective.

·   Reconnect control unit wiring harness plug

Note:

The following measurements are made with the wiring harness plug connected.

Multimeter KM-587-A is connected to Ter. 7 from the rear, the wiring harness side, using the probes from Electronic Kit KM-609.

·   Ignition OFF

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          ground, Ter. 31

less than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          "Winter program" tip switch Ter. C

·   Ignition ON

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          ground, Ter. 31

greater than 10 V

Winter LED illuminates dimly

·   Circuit interruption

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          "Winter program" tip switch Ter. C

·   Short circuit to ground

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          "Winter program" tip switch Ter. C

·   Winter LED defective.

·   Selector lever in position "D"

·   Press "winter program" tip switch S 105

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 7

to:          ground, Ter. 31

less than 1 V

Winter LED illuminates brightly

·   Winter LED defective.

If nominal values are attained

·   Transmission control unit defective.
