THM 125 AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION, REMOVE AND INSTALL
Transmission, Remove
Disconnect battery.
Unscrew battery ground strap
from transmission.
Unscrew air cleaner.

Release tension on kickdown
cable at adjusting mechanism "A" by removing the pin - first remove
spring clamp.
Detach kickdown cable from
ball end.
Unscrew kickdown cable shell
from transmission and detach cable by pulling shell up.

|
Remove selector lever cable
from transmission selector lever.
Note: For this, remove snap ring.
|
|
Unscrew selector lever cable
bracket (2 screws).
Note: Cable
does not need to be removed from bracket. Screw "A" is the
fastening bolt for transmission to engine.
|
|
Remove dipstick.
Unscrew 2 screws (1) for
fastening transmission to engine.
Remove dipstick pipe and
filler pipe with gasket.
|
|
Unscrew 1 screw for
fastening transmission to engine (see arrow).
|
|
Unscrew union nut from
speedometer cable and remove speedometer cable from governor.
|
|
Raise engine with Tool
KM-263-A.
Note: A
commercially available spring hook can be used as a connecting hook.
|
|
Remove retaining clip (1)
and unscrew castellated nut (2).
Remove front wheels.
Raise vehicle.
|
|
Press out guiding joint
(left) with Remover KM-199-01 or KM-507-C.
Note: Tie
up spring strut with electrode wire to prevent damage to guiding joint rubber
bellows.
Proceed analogously on
guiding joint (right).

|
Press out left axle driving
shaft with mounting lever.
Note: In
order to avoid damage to axle driving shaft rubber bellows, lay axle driving
shaft on control arm.
|
|
Knock out right axle driving
shaft using suitable non-ferrous drift.
Note: In
order to avoid damage to axle driving shaft rubber bellows, lay axle driving
shaft on control arm.
|
|
Diagonally loosen clamp for
fluid coolant hoses to transmission (1) and to fluid cooler (arrow).
Remove loosened fluid
coolant hose to transmission and fluid cooler and diagonally close off free
connections with free end of hose.
Important: Transmission fluid escapes.

|
Unbolt converter cover (3
screws).
|
|
Unscrew converter from drive
disc (3 screws), counterholding starter ring gear with screwdriver.
Note: Screws are microencapsulated.
Press off converter from
drive disc using mounting lever.
|
|
Unscrew transmission engine
suspension at front left (5 screws).
|
|
Support transmission with
jack and Fixture KM-485.
Note: Secure transmission onto Fixture with chain.
|
|
Unbolt transmission engine
suspension at rear of chassis and exhaust.(3 screws)
Note: Loosen
screw on rubber buffer and tighten again after installation of transmission -
prevents droning noises.
|
|
Unbolt transmission from
engine at front right (2 screws).
Lower transmission using
jack, observing separation points.
Remove transmission from
Fixture KM-485.
