Transmission Adjustment with Transmission Installed:
Kickdown adjustment 1. Depress accelerator pedal until kickdown switch is touched.Throttle valve must be fully open in this position.
2. Depress accelerator pedal until kickdown switch is fully actuated.Adjustment is correct when locking pin on adjustment mechanism snaps in.
Attach spring clip to secure adjustment.
3. Cable must be adjusted so that it is free of play in idle position.
Selector lever adjustment 1. Selector lever on transmission must be in position "P".
2. Insert loosened cable into base plate and selector lever, then position selector lever at "P".
3. Align cable casing (tension-free) in base plate and tighten cable in clamp on selector lever. The selector lever must be pressed against stop in direction "R" in the transmission gate.
4. Check to see if the selector lever positions P-R-N-D-2-1 engage in all positions analogously on the transmission. If not, correct adjustment on clamp of selector lever.
Brake band adjustment: Join together actuator pin on brake band servo piston with sleeve of Checking Tool KM-J-28535 and check length of actuator pin in conjunction with Checking Tool KM-J-28535 and commercially available torque wrench (11.2 Nm/8.26 lbf. ft.). Identification: No groove = long 1 groove = medium 2 grooves = short
Mode switch assembly adjustment:
On vehicles without catalytic converter - no adjustment necessary.
On vehicles with catalytic converter - adjustment by integrally cast plyamide pin (ø approx. 1 mm).
