Check pump shaft bearing for wear and damage, if necessary replace.

On transmissions up to Model Year 85:

Remove pump shaft bearing using Tool KM-J-28698 in conjunction with KM-305.

Install new bearing from pump chamber side using removal tool.

Note:    Install bearing so far in that bearing ring is positioned up to 0.5 mm/0.02 in. deeper than pump chamber front surface. Dimension "X" in illustration detail.

On Transmissions as of Model Year 1985:

Remove pump shaft bearing using KM-598.

Press in new bearing from pump chamber side using KM-598 flush with pump chamber front surface (maximum 0.3 mm/0.012 in. deeper).

Important:     Cold running pipe "A" must not be removed from valve body (pressed in) - it must be securely and tightly seated.
