Turbine Shaft, Assemble - 4- and 5-Speed

Manual Transmission

F 10 and F 13 Manual Transmission

Note:

       As of the introduction of 3-cone synchronization, the splinesof the shaft are modified as in the F 16/F 20 transmission.

       A change of measuring ranges is, however, not required.

Press ball bearing onto gear cluster using KM-311/2.

       Closed side of ball bearing faces outwards.

       On F 13 both sides of ball bearing are closed.

       Beforehand, add new snap ring (for gear cluster at end shield).

Secure ball bearing on gear cluster with snap ring.

       Add washer.

       Use new snap ring.

Press turbine shaft, small splines first, into gear cluster.

       Support using Sleeve KM-311/2.

       Important:

       Take care not to damage splines in gear cluster when pressing in shaft.

       Note two versions of transmission turbine shaft and gear cluster (see P & A catalogue).

F 16 and F 20 Manual Transmission

Press ball bearing onto gear cluster using KM-334.

       Ball bearing cage ridge faces end shield side.

       Beforehand, add new snap ring (for gear cluster at end shield).

Secure ball bearing on gear cluster with new snap ring.

Press turbine shaft, thin part first, into gear cluster opposite ball bearing.

Important:

       Do not damage longitudinal splines when pressing shaft into gear cluster.

       Note sizes of different versions:

       Press turbine shafts in size group 1 into gear cluster splines by hand:

       Dimension A = 5 mm/0.19 in. max.

       If dimension A is smaller than 0 mm, press in shaft from size group 2.

       If dimension A is greater than 5 mm/0.19 in., replace gear cluster.

       Colour Code:

          Measuring range           1 = green

          Measuring range           2 = without
