Shift Mechanism Cover, Remove and Disassemble

Illustrations show F 16.

Unscrew transmission bleed plug from cover.

Unbolt cover from main case and remove.

Screw cover to Installer KM-552.

Remove snap ring, bushing, pressure spring and intermediate shift lever from guide pin.

Drive retaining pin out of shift finger and shift rod using punch.

       Note recess in cover.

Pull out shift rod.

       No provision is made for further disassembly of cover. The cover is supplied as a replacement part only as a complete assembly with guide pin and cover plate.

Remove pin from rubber joint.

Remove seal ring from cover.

Remove speedometer driven helical gear.

       Unscrew hex bolt for retainer plate.

       Lever out guide piece and helical gear using screwdriver.

Unscrew reversing lamp switch.

       Fluid escapes.
