Gearshift Lever, Remove and Install - Vehicles without Catalytic Converter > < Manual Transmission and Differential - Vehicles without Catalytic converter

Transmission Shift Linkage, Adjust - Vehicles with Catalytic Converter

 

Put gearshift lever in neutral position (not in any gear).

Remove gearshift lever covering from transmission tunnel.

Loosen mounting screw for shift rod clamp.

Remove plugs for adjustment hole out of cover.

 

Adjust transmission shift linkage.

Turn shift rod to left (looking in direction of travel) until KM-527 can be inserted in adjustment hole as far as stop.

At the same time, move gearshift lever to 1st and 2nd gear level whilst in neutral position and with rubber cap turned up (2nd mechanic).

When doing this, lever rests against stop without any play and arrow must point to notch.

With shift rod and gearshift lever in this position, tighten shift rod clamp - 14 Nm/10.33 lbf. ft.

Check:

Play between hook "A" and stop "B" is max. 3 mm/ 0.118 in. when shift lever is in neutral position.

 

Remove KM-527 and close off hole with plug.

Use new plug.

 

Shift lever with adjustment nut:

Adjust dim. "C" by turning adjusting nut "D".

C = 11.6 mm ± 0.2 mm / 0.457 in. ± 0.0079 in.

 

Secure adjusting nut "D" with lock plate.

Attach gearshift lever covering to transmission tunnel.

 

Important:

All gears must be easy to engage with vehicle stationary, engine running and clutch disengaged.
