"Anti-Runout" Valve, Check Function > < Special Service Tools

Fuel Filler Neck with "Anti-Runout" Valve, Remove and Install

 

The vent container with "anti-runout" valve is an integral part of the fuel filler neck.

 

Remove

 

Drain fuel tank.

On all carburettor engines and on diesel engines, close off textile hoses for fuel feed and return lines using spring clamps. Loosen hose clamps and pull textile hoses off fuel feed lines. Lengthen textile hoses and allow fuel to drain off into a clean container.

 

On 18 E* engines, close off textile hose for fuel return line and textile feed line to electric fuel pump using spring clamps. Unscrew hoses from fuel pump and lengthen. Allow fuel to drain off into a clean container.

Remove fuel filler cap and unscrew fuel filler neck from right rear quarter panel.

 

Open hose clamps for vent hoses at vent container using a screwdriver. These should be replaced with commercially available hose clamps when installing.

 

Pull off vent hose from vent container.

Unbolt fuel filler neck from underbody (only saloon).

Loosen hose clamps on fuel filler neck and overflow pipe.

Pull off fuel filler neck from tank connecting stubs.

Pull off overflow pipe from overflow hose.

Install

 

Install in reverse order.

 

 

Note:

Push short hose on to connection A (to tank), and long hose on to connection B (to outside air) and fasten with commercially available hose clamps.
