"Anti-Runout" Valve, Check Function

The valve is an integral part of the tank vent system.

Its function is to prevent fuel running out of the fuel tank through the vent hose when the vehicle is lying on its roof.

The longitudinal section in illustration A 9363 shows the valve in the normal position. The ball - on the right of the illustration - is blocking neither of the vent bores.

The longitudinal section in illustration A 9364 shows the valve when the vehicle is lying on its roof, e.g. after an accident.

The ball is blocking the vent bore, preventing fuel from escaping.

To check function of valve, remove fuel filler neck with "anti-runout" valve.

In this position, fuel should not escape through connection B.
