Note:

On vehicles as of Sept. 86, same fluid pump as for Omega/Carlton/Senator-B, with same fluid pressure and with straight fluid pump connecting piece for return line connection. For fluid pressure, see Technical Data.

Install

Install in reverse order.

Tension V-belt (see operation "V-Belt for Fluid Pump, Replace" in this group).

Pour special fluid into fluid reservoir.

Fluid may not be used again once drained. For filling the system, use Special Fluid designated DEXRONwith a subsequent number D....., Catalogue No. 90 350 341 - 19 40 699.

The fluid level is checked with a dipstick in the cover of the fluid reservoir. Initially the fluid is filled to the reservoir edge with the

engine not running.

Then repeatedly start engine briefly and switch off again immediately. Each time the engine is turned off, top up the fluid level as far as the lower dipstick marking, as the fluid level in the reservoir drops rapidly.

The fluid pump must not be allowed to run dry.

Then bleed steering gear with engine running at idle speed.

Turn steering wheel 2 or 3 times slowly approx. 45° to the left and then to the right. Then turn steering wheel twice from full lock to full lock.

Recorrect fluid level in fluid pump.

After the cold engine has been switched off (fluid temperature approx. 20° C/68° F), the fluid level should reach the lower dipstick marking. The fluid level must not rise above the upper dipstick marking with the engine at operating temperature (fluid temperature 80° C/176° F or higher).
