Board Computer, Calibrate

 

Remove board computer and connect OPEL Checking Cable KM-566-6 (see operation "Board Computer Sensors, Check", Section 4 "Connect OPEL Universal Checking Adapter KM-566-1 and OPEL Checking Cable KM-566-6" in this group).

 

Pull off measuring lead from round plug of fuel tank sensor.

 

Connect battery.

Turn switch on OPEL Checking Cable KM-566-6 to opposite position "-".

Remove closure for access opening to "Range Potentiometer" from step switch of board computer.

Switch on ignition.

 

Select function "Range".

Press and release sequence button and start button simultaneously.

 

The board computer now displays the range and is ready for the range display to be calibrated.

Carry out calibration.

 

IMPORTANT

Special calibration screwdrivers are required for calibration.

Only the screwdriver intended for the respective board computer may be used otherwise damage would be caused to the board computer.

 

For board computer with square operating keys:

Phillips Head Screwdriver KM-566-6-1

(see Illus. B 7671)

 

For board computer with round operating keys

(as of Model Year '86):

Hex Head Screwdriver KM-566-6-2

Guide screwdriver carefully into access opening. Calibrate the range display to small steps by carefully turning the screwdriver. First turn calibration potentiometer to left hand stop. Then turn potentiometer slowly to right until requisite calibration is reached. See "Technical Data" on microfiche, group N for calibration levels.

Reinsert closure for access opening to "Range potentiometer".

 

Switch off ignition.

 

Disconnect board computer from OPEL Checking Cable. Wait 2 minutes before reconnecting board computer to 13 pin plug of instrument panel wiring harness so that the board computer programme can reactivate itself.

 

 

Install board computer in instrument panel. Reconnect measuring lead to fuel tank sensor.

 

Carry out function check (see operation "Board Computer System, Check" in this group).
