Wiring Harness - Rear, Replace

Remove

Remove cover for central plug connection on lower A pillar.

Remove left hand sill inner trim panel.

Remove luggage compartment covering and rear quarter inner trim panel.

Remove covering for rear lamps.

Disconnect wiring harness at socket of central plug connection from:

1 -  Instrument panel wiring harness

2 -  Wiring harness for central door locking system, electric window operation and electric mirror adjustment

3 -  Illumination for selector (only with auto. transmission)

4 -  Left hand turn signal lamp

5 -  Right hand turn signal lamp

6 -  Heating for right hand seat

7 -  Heating for left hand seat

Unscrew wiring harness from A pillar at socket of central plug connection.

Remove door contact switch (only driver's door) and disconnect wiring harness.

A   Door contact switch with headlamp "ON" warning (special equipment)

B   Door contact switch without headlamp "ON" warning (grey cable attached to right angle plug).

Disconnect following cables from wiring harness: when installing, reconnect to wiring harness with clamp connectors:

1 -   Door contact switch, passenger door (red)

2 -   Interior lamp (grey)

3 -   Parking brake monitoring switch (brown/white)

4 -   Fuel gauge (blue/black:

ground cable brown

0.75 mm/0.03 in.)

On estates also

-      Elec. fuel pump (blue: ground cable brown )

1.5 mm/0.06 in.)

On vehicles with RHD also:

5   -      Disconnect wiring harness

from radio wiring harness

at plug connection.

Saloon (Notchback):

Remove license plate lamp and disconnect wiring harness.

Remove luggage compartment inner panelling and disconnect wiring harness from:

-    Rear lamps

-    Electr. fuel pump (only C 18 NT, NE engines)

Unscrew ground cable from rear end panel.

Disconnect wiring harness from:

-    Luggage compartment light if present

-    Contact switch for luggage compartment light if present

-    Wiring harness for motor for central locking system (luggage compartment lid) - if present

-    Cable for heated rear screen

-    Wiring harness for trailer operation - if present.

Pull wiring harness with rubber grommets into vehicle.

Install (Saloon - Notchback):

Analogously in reverse order.

Estate:

On vehicles with LHD, remove license plate lamps and disconnect wiring harness.

Unscrew ground cable from left hand lower D pillar.

Disconnect wiring harness from rear lamps.

Disconnect wiring harness at plug connections from:

-    Cable for rear compartment lamp

-    Tail gate wiring harness

-    Trailer hitch wiring harness if fitted.

On vehicles with RHD also:

-    Disconnect wiring harness from all loudspeakers

-    Disconnect wiring harness at plug connection from bumper wiring harness.

Pull wiring harness and rubber grommets into rear of passenger compartment.

Install (Estate)

Analogously in reverse order.
