Wiring Harness - Instrument
Panel, Replace
Remove
Disconnect ground cable from
battery.
Disconnect wiring harness from
battery positive terminal. Remove windscreen wipers, cowl panel and water
deflector.
Disconnect wiring harness at
plug connections from:
- Front
wiring harness
- Cable for temperature sensor
- Engine wiring harness
- Cable for oil level sensor
- Cable for windscreen washer high pressure pump
- Cable for fuel flowmeter
- Cable for distance sensor
- Cable for engine compartment lamp
- Ground cable for washer motor
DisDisconnect wiring harness
from:
- Relay for headlamp washer
- Closing damper
- Fan motor
- Wiper motor
- Brake fluid monitor switch
- Pump for rear screen washer
- Pump for windscreen washer
- Washer fluid sensor
- IAC delay relay
Remove cover for central plug
connection from lower A pillar.
Remove passenger foot well
side
covering at A pillar.
Remove passenger foot well
upper covering if fitted.
Remove steering wheel covering
with horn button.
Remove signal switch panelling
and - if fitted - steering column jacket.
Remove instrument panel
panelling.
Disconnect wiring harness from
all switches and lamps in vicinity of instrument panel panelling.
Remove instruments.
Disconnect wiring harness from
all displays on instruments.
Remove radio.
Remove the following
aggregates, switches and lamps from the central instrument panel area and
disconnect wiring harness from each of them:
- Check Control display unit
- Board computer or clock
- Switch for heater fan and rear screen heating
- Cigarette lighter and ashtray lamp
Disconnect wiring harness from:
- Heating control unit lamp
- Voltage converter
- Glove compartment lamp
- Switch for glove compartment lamp
- Stop - Go system control unit
- Bulb monitoring sensor
Disconnect
wiring harness from:
- Signal switch
- Flat plug for horn
- Contact part for steering and
ignition lock
- Windscreen wiper switch
- Brake lamp switch
- Switch for clutch play display
- Choke valve bowden cable

Pull
off central plug from rear wiring harness socket.
On
vehicles with automatic transmission, also disconnect wiring harness at plug
connection from cables for start and reversing lamp switch and for lamps
themselves.
Remove
fuse box from instrument panel.
The
fuse box is also replaced
when
replacing the wiring harness.
Pull
off all fuses, relays and aggregates from fuse box and relay mount on rear of
wiring harness, and insert in the corresponding positions in fuse box and
relay mount of new wiring harness.

Pull
wiring harness into passenger compartment.
Install
Analogously
in reverse order.
