Automatic Antenna, Service Install

The automatic antenna is mounted on the right wing, supported by a bracket on the right quarter panel and connected to ground.

Remove right wing protective panelling.

Remove retaining plugs from dash panel by knocking back tightening pin.

Remove 3 retaining plugs from wheel housing by knocking back tightening pin.

Pull off protective panelling from wheel opening flange.

Drill hole Æ 18 mm/0.71 in.for antenna.

If present, remove right lower instrument panel panelling.

Drill hole Æ 5.2 mm/0.21 in. for antenna bracket and two holes Æ 13.5 mm/0.53 in. for antenna cable and antenna power lead in quarter panel.

Screw antenna bracket and ground cable to antenna.

Install antenna.

To do this, insert rubber sealing washer between bracket and quarter panel.

Lead antenna cable with grommet and antenna power lead through quarter panel and seal.

Extend antenna cable and lay to radio.

Up to MY'89:

Prepare and lay positive lead to fuse box and control lead to radio.

As of MY'89:

Prepare and lay positive lead to hazard warning switch and control lead to radio.

Fasten antenna cable and power lead with instrument panel wiring harness retaining straps.

Up to Model Year'89

Connect positive lead on fuse box terminal "30".

Connect control lead to radio, automatic antenna terminal.

Reinstall parts removed.

Check for proper functioning.

As of MY'89:

Remove hazard warning switch.

Depress detent springs with offset screwdriver and pull hazard warning switch out of instrument panel towards front.

Connect positive lead to red cable of hazard warning switch using splice connector.

Connect control lead on radio, automatic antenna terminal.

Reinstall parts removed.

Check for proper functioning.
