Radio,
Equalizer, Loudspeakers and Speaker Control, Service Install
The
radio is installed in the upper part of the centre console.
See
relevant instructions for installation of equalizer, loudspeakers and speaker
control.
Note:
Check
radio with its own antenna and loudspeakers for proper functioning in all
wavebands before installing.

Radio,
Install
Disconnect
battery ground cable.
Remove
covering from radio installation point.
Compress
retaining spring of hazard warning lamp switch using offset screwdriver and
simultaneously pull out hazard warning lamp switch.
As
of MY'89: Radio with Central Connection
Use
adapter for radio connection.

Connect
positive lead, terminal 30, permanent plus battery, to hazard warning switch.
|
|
Screw
on adapter cable ground lead or radio plug to steering column frame using
self-tapping screw and toothed lock washer.
|
|
If
present, connect feed lead for radio illumination to grey/green cable for
heater actuation switch illumination using splice connector.
As
of MY'89:
Gate
trigger current lead (terminal 15) Connect from cigarette lighter feed lead
(black) to adapter cable or radio electric plug using splice connector.

|
Lay
loudspeaker cable according to circuit diagram.
Connect
cable.
Mono
or stereo equipment with two front loudspeakers.
A Loudspeaker, front left
B Loudspeaker,
front right

Mono
or stereo equipment with two front and two rear loudspeakers.
Up
to MY'89:
It
is possible to continuously balance the sound between the front and the rear
loudspeakers by means of the separate speaker control.

Stereo
equipment with 4 loudspeaker connections.

Mount
rear equipment support.
|
|
On
equipment with fastening on adjustment shafts, screw on 2 retaining springs.
|
|
On
equipment with fastening on housing, insert retaining frame in centre
console.
|
|
Connect
radio and insert. If present, install cover, buttons and headless screws.
Up
to MY'89:
A Positive, ground and scale illumination
connection
B Loudspeaker connection
C Antenna connection
Connect
ground cable to battery.

|
If
a radio is removed, the side retaining springs must be pressed back by
retainers. To do this, insert both retainers in the holes in the front plate
and press in until a cracking sound can clearly be heard. Pull radio out of
console using both brackets.
The
retainers are included in the radio installation kit.
As
of MY'89:
Remove
headless screws from removal apertures (anti-theft precaution).
