Note:

The throttle valve potentiometer is connected to the corresponding engine control unit. The automatic transmission receives a prepared signal from the engine control unit, proportional to the throttle valve position.

Note:

The throttle valve potentiometer is connected directly to the transmission control unit, i.e. the transmission control unit receives information
about the throttle valve position directly from the potentiometer.

See test step 15 for the configurations in which TECH 1 displays "NOT USED".

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from transmission control unit

·   Measure voltage:

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 25

to:          ground, Ter. 31

less than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 25

to:          corresponding terminal of engine control unit

·   Connect dwell meter

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 25

to:          ground, Ter. 31

·   Ignition ON

·   Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature

·   Accelerate briefly:

about 0%

greater than 5%

greater than 20%

·   Circuit interruption

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 25

to:          corresponding terminal of engine control unit

·   Short circuit to ground

from:      transmission control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 25
