Intermediate Gear (Driving), Check  

  Inspect   

Check splines of intermediate gear (driving) for damage and wear. If necessary, replace assembly, an overhaul of the intermediate gear (driving) is not planned.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

If no external damage is evident:  

  Measure   

Pre-tensioning of intermediate gear (driving). Intermediate gear (driving) in vice - clamp carefully on gear toothing. Starting torque with commercially available spring force gauge (1) - attach cord to groove of outer ring (arrow). Measurement value: 0.05 to 0.4 Nm / 0.04 to 0.3 lbf. ft. Replace entire assembly if the measured value deviates greatly from nominal value.
