Torque Converter > < Side Cover, Seal

 

Axle Shaft Seal Rings, Replace  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect ground cable from battery. Raise vehicle.  

Completely remove tension struts (arrows down) with control arm (arrow up) and stabiliser. As of MY '96 for vehicles with petrol engines and power steering or air conditioning - unbolt partial engine compartment cover (front, right) from tension strut for this operation.

Remove axle shafts with KM-460-2-B (illus. I) and tie up axle shafts. Optionally, a new Remover KM-901 can be also be used.  

Push seal ring out of right transmission side with mounting lever (illus. II).  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

Fluid escapes. Do not damage seating surfaces of seal rings on transmission.  

Object Number: 2394417  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Pull seal ring out of left side with KM-557-A (1, illus. I).  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Drive new seal rings in flush with KM-519 (illus. II). Push spring strut (on left side) to one side.  

Completely install tension strut with control arm and stabiliser.  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Check transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct".
