Selector Lever Assembly, Remove and Install (as of MY '96)
 Remove, Disconnect Remove selector lever console - see operation "Selector Lever Console, Remove and Install (as of MY '96)". For vehicles with selector lever lock: Remove contact switch for selector lever lock - see operation "Selector Lever Lock Contact Switch, Remove and Install". Remove selector lever lock - see operation "Selector Lever Lock Solenoid Switch, Remove and Install". Remove ignition key contact switch release - see operation "Ignition Key Contact Switch Release, Remove and Install" Remove bulbs with sockets - see operation "Bulb/Socket for Illumination, Remove and Install". Remove axle for selector lever - thereby unscrewing nut (1) from axle. Unclip wiring harness plug (2) from console. Disconnect ground connections from console. Unclip selector lever assembly from console (arrows). Remove both tip switches - see operation "Winter Programme Tip Switch, Remove and Install" and "Economy/Sport Programme Tip Switch, Remove and Install". |

Remove, Disconnect Detach covers (1, 2 and 3) from selector lever assembly (4). Remove selector lever axle (6) and pawl (5 - if fitted) from console (7).
 Install, Connect Insert pawl (if fitted) and selector lever in console. Attach cover to selector lever assembly. Install both tip switches - see operation "Winter Programme Tip Switch, Remove and Install" and "Economy/Sport Programme Tip Switch, Remove and Install". Clip selector lever assembly to console. |

Install, Connect Attach selector lever to selector lever axle with new fastening nuts (1) - tightening torque 28 Nm / 21 lbf. ft. Install bulbs with sockets. Connect ground connections to console. Clip wiring harness plug to console. For vehicles with selector lever lock: Install contact switch for selector lever lock - see operation "Ignition Key Contact Switch Release, Remove and Install". Install selector lever lock solenoid switch - see operation "Selector Lever Lock Solenoid Switch, Remove and Install". Install selector lever lock contact switch - see operation "Selector Lever Lock Contact Switch, Remove and Install". Install selector lever console - see operation "Selector Lever Console, Remove and Install (as of MY '96)". |
