Programming

In vehicles with petrol engines, the immobiliser control unit is programmed as previously (see "Immobiliser with Transponder" Checking Procedures).

In vehicles with X 15 DT (T4 EC 1), 17 D (4 EE 1), X 17 DT (TC 4 EE 1) and X 17 DTL engines, the electronic fuel cutoff valve (ELAB) is actuated by the immobiliser control unit.

An electronic unit has been added to the fuel cutoff solenoid valve to evaluate these signals.

The electronic unit must be reprogrammed if

·     the immobiliser control unit or

·     the electronic fuel cutoff valve (ELAB) are replaced.

As the ELAB is not capable of diagnosis, programming with TECH 1A must be performed via the immobiliser control unit according to the following procedure:

1     Ignition OFF

2     Press key F7 in the system main menu, use the arrow keys to select DIESEL CUT S. and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions on the TECH 1A displays. To protect the vehicle battery, disconnect the glow plug fuse.

3     Ignition OFF

4     Ignition ON

5     Wait for 10 seconds

6     Ignition OFF

Repeat steps 4 to 6 until the counter that appears in the bottom left corner of the TECH 1A is at zero (max. 11 repeats possible).

After the last "ignition OFF", the fuel cutoff solenoid valve is engaged and disengaged quickly several times consecutively (audible). This noise indicates that the IMO signal can now be programmed into the ELAB electronic unit.

On the next "ignition ON", the IMO signal is programmed into the ELAB electronic unit ELAB.

Then insert sheathed glow plug fuse.
