Remove
1.
Non-destructive glass removal
Prescribed tools such as wire cutter, electro-pneumatic devices
can be used.
Height / width of adhesive bead should not be less than 13 mm / 8
mm respectively for the high-modulus 1-component adhesive
kit
For all other component adhesive kits: Thickness of adhesive /
width of adhesive bead (not less than 4 mm / up to 20 mm in the
installed state is acceptable).
Additional effort or damage is only anticipated outside this
geometry, e.g. at
vulcanised trim strips and paintwork
Mask paintwork with textile band
Protect heater cable connections
Install
2.
Check paintwork
After removal, check paintwork, particularly the body frame.
Clean bare metal areas, prime, top coat. Do not use glass primer
under any circumstances (corrosion buildup). The glass primer is
only for UV protection and is therefore only applied to the pane of
glass.
Make good minor surface damage using touch-up applicator.
3.
Pane of glass
Treat new panes of glass with glass primer in adhesive zones. If
there is no PU vulcanisation in these areas, do not apply glass
primer onto the PU vulcanisation or cut adhesive residue if reusing
cut panes of glass (lack of adhesion).
Apply new adhesive as per instructions. Place pane of glass into
body frame and fix in position using MKM-591 strap retainers.
Observe lay-over time of glass according to glass type and
vehicle equipment (airbag).
