Mount Bearing - Active Head Restraint, Remove and Install > < Replace Bowden cable, front seat backrest (Model F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 06, F 25)

Active Head Restraint, Remove and Install or Replace

  Remove

Important:   When replacing the front seat as a result of an accident, the active head restraint assembly must also be replaced. When replacing the front seat backrests as a result of wear, the active head restraint assembly can be re-installed.
1.   Detach upholstery covering/pad LUREF_1.gif
Object Number: 2409168  Size: DEFAULT

2.   Detach side tension spring (3). Detach lower tension spring (4).
3.   Detach and remove suspension frame (1) and retaining strap (2) on support.

4.   Unscrew active head restraint lever (1) from front seat backrest frame.
5.   Unlock active head restraint mount bearing (2) with suitable pliers and pull upwards out of the front seat backrest frame
6.   Remove active head restraint mount with support and lever

  Install

7.   Detach active head restraint lever (3) from mount and detach active head restraint support

Object Number: 2409223  Size: DEFAULT

8.   Attach active head restraint to mount and active head restraint support 6 Nm
Note:   When attaching active head restraint lever to active head restraint mount and support – insert screw with screw locking compound (red).
9.   Push active head restraint mount with support and lever from below into the front seat backrest frame
10.   Push active head restraint (1) mount bearing from above into front seat backrest frame until the retaining lugs engage.
11.   Active head restraint lever (2) to front seat backrest frame.
12.   Insert special bolt (3) with bolt locking compound (red) 6.5 Nm

Important:   The screwed joint, active head restraint lever to rear seat backrest frame, takes the form of a self-cutting threaded bolt and may only be released or screwed in again 1x. After being screwed in again, the bolt head must be marked with a yellow dot. When the special bolt has been released again, the front seat backrest must be replaced because the threaded insert is worn. If the special bolt is twisted when inserted for the first time, the front seat backrest must also be replaced.
13.   Attach mounting frame and restraining strap to the support for the active head restraint
•   Attach the tension springs at the side and bottom of the active head restraint to the frame of the front seat backrest first of all and then to the suspension frame
14.   Attach upholstery covering/pad, front seat backrest LUREF_1.gif
