Rear Wheel Brake, Adjust > < Brake Shoes - Drum Brake, Check for Wear

Brake Disc, Check for Runout

  Remove

1.   Remove relevant wheel
•   Mark position in relation to centre of wheel
•   Bring transmission into "neutral" position
2.   Fasten brake disc with two wheel bolts and one 10 mm thick spacing washer respectively
•   Attach Dial Gauge MKM-571-B (2) with magnetic base (1) to spring strut support tube or rear axle body
•   Position probe of dial gauge on outer edge of brake disc (3) with a little pretensioning

3.   Rotate brake disc at least one turn. Permitted lateral runout max. 0.1 mm
4.   Remove brake disc and check contact surfaces
Note:   If lateral runout is greater than specified:
  • Replace front brake disc
  • Replace rear brake disc
•   Check wheel hub for runout
  • Measure tilt play
  • Measure lateral and radial runout LUREF_1.gif
  • Rear wheel hub for vehicles with disc brake LUREF_1.gif

  Install

5.   Remove Dial Gauge MKM-571-B with magnetic base
6.   Detach wheel bolts with spacing washers
7.   Fit relevant wheel. Tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.
