Fan Housing, Replace

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Detach front panelling
Note:   On Tigra-B (Model R97): detach front panelling
Important:   On vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - every time the battery is disconnected, the steering angle sensor loses its basic setting. It must be recalibrated.
3.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground cable
4.   Remove charge air hose
•   From turbocharger to charge air pipe
•   Release clamp
•   Disconnect quick-release coupling

5.   Loosen charge air pipe (1)
•   Unscrew upper bolt (2)
6.   Release fan housing
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows)
7.   Disconnect fan wiring harness
•   Release cable ties
8.   Unclip coolant hose
9.   Raise vehicle
10.   Loosen charge air pipe
•   Unscrew 2 lower bolts (3)
•   Release clamp

11.   Remove upper right radiator bracket
•   Remove bolt
12.   Loosen 2 lower radiator brackets
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (1)
•   Loosen 2 bolts (2)

13.   Remove fan housing
Note:   Remove charge air pipe; remove fan housing downwards
•   Second person required
14.   Remove fan motor
•   Unscrew 3x nut (1)
•   Unclip wiring harness
•   Remove bolt (2)
– From resistor

15.   Reassemble small parts

  Install

16.   Install fan motor
•   Attach wiring harness
•   Tighten bolt 1,5 Nm
– From resistor
•   Replace 3x nut
•   Tighten 3 new nuts 4.5 Nm
17.   Install fan housing
Note:   Fit charge air pipe; fit fan housing from below
•   Second person required
18.   Secure 2x lower radiator bracket
•   Tighten 4 bolts 15 Nm
19.   Fasten charge air pipe
•   Tighten 2 lower bolts 5 Nm
•   Fasten clamp 3.5 Nm
20.   Clean threads
•   From radiator bracket
21.   Install right radiator bracket
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
Note:   Insert bolts with locking compound (red)
22.   Fasten fan housing
•   Tighten 2x bolts 5 Nm
23.   Lower vehicle
24.   Clip in coolant hose.
25.   Connect fan wiring harness
•   Fasten cable tie
26.   Fasten charge air pipe
•   Tighten upper bolt 5 Nm
27.   Install charge air hose
•   Fasten clamp 3.5 Nm
•   Close quick-release fitting
28.   Attach front panelling
Note:   On Tigra-B (Model R97): attach front panelling
29.   Connect battery
30.   Program volatile memory
31.   Close bonnet
