Replace fan motor (Z 12 XE, Z 12 XEP, Z 14 XEP, with air conditioning, LHD) > < Oil/Water Heat Exchanger - Leaky

Replace fan motor (Z 10 XE, Z 10 XEP, without air conditioning, LHD)

Note:   On vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - every time the battery is disconnected, the steering angle sensor loses its basic setting. It must be recalibrated.

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground cable
– Remove nut
3.   Remove air intake pipe (1)
•   Withdraw oil dipstick
•   Remove bolt (2)

4.   Remove fan housing
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (1)
•   Unclip coolant hose
•   Disconnect fan motor wiring harness plug
•   Remove fan housing upwards carefully

5.   Remove fan motor
•   Unscrew 3x nuts (arrows)
Object Number: 2404428 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

6.   Install fan motor
Note:   Pay attention to installation position
•   Tighten 3x nuts 5 Nm
7.   Install fan housing
•   Tighten 2x bolts 5 Nm
•   Clip in coolant hose.
•   Connect wiring harness plug
– Route wiring harness
8.   Install air intake manifold
•   Install in upper front
– Tighten bolt
•   Insert oil dipstick
9.   Connect battery
10.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Turn on ignition
•   Turn the steering wheel once from the right stop to left stop.
11.   Program volatile memories
12.   Close bonnet
