Con-Rod Bearing, Replace (Z 17 DTH, Without Air
Conditioning, LHD)
Remove
1. |
Remove lower section of oil pan
|
2. |
Remove upper section of oil pan
|
3. |
Detach oil intake pipe (2)
|
4. |
Remove oil baffle plate (1)
|
5. |
Remove con-rod bearing cap
• |
Set piston to BDC position
|
• |
Remove con-rod bearing caps
Note: Pay attention to
code (3) on con-rod bearing cover and con-rod. If not present, mark
with code
|

|
|
6. |
Remove 2x bearing shell
|
7. |
Inspect components
• |
Con-rod bearing journal, con-rod bearing cap, bearing
shells
|
|
8. |
Insert 2x bearing shell
• |
De-grease con-rod bearing journal
|
|
Important: Narrow bead on con-rod
bearing cover (arrow) points to engine control side.
|
9. |
Fit con-rod bearing cap
• |
Place plastic gauge across width of con-rod bearing journal
|
• |
Tighten 2 nuts 24.5 Nm + 100° +
15°
Note: Nuts do not have
to be replaced when measuring con-rod bearing play. Do not rotate
crankshaft
|

|
10. |
Remove con-rod bearing cap
|
11. |
Measure con-rod bearing clearance
• |
Compare plastic gauge (plastic thread) to measuring scale
|
• |
Permitted con-rod bearing play 0.025 mm to 0.058 mm
Note: Do not confuse
millimetre and inch markings on measuring scale
|

|
Install
12. |
Fit con-rod bearing cap
Important: Narrow bead on con-rod
bearing cap should face engine control side.
|
• |
Clean con-rod bearing journal and con-rod bearing shell and
coat with engine oil
|
• |
Tighten 2 nuts 24.5 Nm + 100° +
15°
|
|
13. |
Install oil baffle plate
• |
Tighten 5 bolts 18.6 Nm
|
|
14. |
Install oil intake pipe
|
15. |
Install upper section of oil pan
|
16. |
Install lower section of oil pan
|
|
