Safety notes Easytronic (M20 MTA)
Important: Except
for General Risk Notes and Safety Instructions, the following
safety notes must be observed for Easytronic M20 MTA!
- The lines for the high pressure system are under very high
pressures (up to 75 bar). Therefore before opening or before any
work on the high pressure system, it must be ensured that the high
pressure lines of the MTA system are no longer under pressure.
- The pressure in the high pressure system can only be relieved
via Tech 2. The instructions in the diagnostic tester must be
followed. If the precise order of the individual steps in Tech 2 is
not followed, under certain circumstances system pressure can build
up again.
- If communication problems arise between the diagnostic tester
and the Easytronic electronic control unit, or if the pressure
sensor of the MTA system is faulty, it is not possible to reduce
the system pressure of the MTA system with Tech 2. In this case the
complete MTA system must be replaced with the gearbox removed. In
no case may the pressure lines of the MTA system be opened and
hence individual components repaired or replaced.
- Before opening high pressure lines, wear safety goggles.
- If the complete MTA system is replaced, before attaching and
removing the MTA system, the retaining bracket supplied with the
new part must be attached to avoid distortion or damage of the
hydraulic lines. The old part must be returned with the retaining
bracket attached.
- To avoid damage to the clutch hydraulic system, this must not
come into contact with the hydraulic fluid of the MTA system.
- Before repairs on the M20-6 MTA transmission, always carry out
a test with the diagnostic tester in connection with the relevant
test instructions necessary for the transmission concerned.
- Before removing parts of the hydraulic system, the connecting
points and their environment must be cleaned carefully. After
releasing the hydraulic lines, these must be securely sealed with
the corresponding special tool.
- Carry out a leak test after all intervention in the high
pressure system.
- If a repair is not performed or finished immediately, opened
components must be closed or carefully covered.
- When refitting or installing components of the high pressure
system, the existing seals must be replaced (e.g. shift
module).
- After repair work on the M20-6 MTA system, follow the "Required
commissioning routines for Easytronic (M20 MTA)".
- Lines must not be opened or detached with the engine
running.
- When the Easytronic electronic control unit is changed, special
tools must be used, see catalogue "Special Tools".
- The return line from the shift module to CS Speed hydraulic oil
reservoir must be replaced after each separation.
- All pressure lines must be tightened to the specified
torque.
