General notes on windows bonded with adhesive
1. To ensure that the glass is cut out without breakage, use the
recommended tool such as a wire cutter or electropneumatic
equipment.
2. An adhesive thickness / adhesive bead width of not less than
4 mm / up to 20 mm when installed is sufficient. Only if these
dimensions are not adhered to can additional costs or damage, e.g.
to vulcanised trim strips and paintwork, be expected.
3. Mask off paintwork with textile tape.
4. Protect heat duct connections.
Install
5. Check paintwork
- After removal, check the paintwork, particularly in the area of
the body frame.
- Clean areas of bare metal, apply primer and top coat.
Note: Under no
circumstances use glass primer (corrosion will form). The glass
primer is only used as protection from UV light and consequently is
only applied to the glass pane.
- Repair small areas of surface damage with a touch-up pen.
6. Glass pane
- Treat the new glass panes with glass primer in the adhesive
areas, provided there are no vulcanised PU components in this
area.
Note: Do not apply
glass primer to vulcanised PU components or to cut adhesive
residues, e.g. when re-using cut panes (insufficient adhesion).
- Apply adhesive in accordance with regulations.
- Insert glass pane into body frame and fix in place with
Tensioning Belt MKM-591.
- Observe layover times specified for vehicle equipment /
pane.
