Centre Bearing of Propshaft, Replace
|
 Remove
Remove propshaft, see operation "Propshaft, Remove and Install
or Replace".
Disassemble
Clamp propshaft using notched wooden blocks. Before
disassembling propshaft halves, mark installation position (1) in
order to retain production balancing. Remove front part (2) of
propshaft.
Remove rubber sleeve (3) and retaining ring (4).
Remove dust seal washer (5). Unbolt centre bearing bracket (6)
from centre bearing assembly.

Press off centre bearing assembly (2) from propshaft slider
journal using KM-307-B (1), noting dust seal disc under centre
bearing assembly.
Press ball bearing out of centre bearing assembly using KM-302
(3).
Assemble
Press ball bearing into retaining ring using KM-547-3 (4).
Dust seal washer (6) onto propshaft slider. Press centre bearing
assembly onto propshaft slider journal using KM-307-B (5) and
KM-302 (7).

Install
Attach bracket of centre bearing bracket onto centre bearing
assembly – tightening torque 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.
Assemble
Slide on dust seal washer. Install retaining ring. Install
rubber sleeve on slider journal. Tension propshaft in vice using
notched wooden blocks and slide front part into previously marked
installation position.
Install
Install universal shaft – see operation for "Universal
Shaft, Remove and Install or Replace".
