Brake System, Bleed

  Install

Connect the bleeding device to brake bleeder adapter (1). Only use DOT 4 brake fluid. Pressurise brake system (2) – note manufacturer's information. Leave the relevant bleeder screw (3) open until clear, bubble-free brake fluid flows out. Bleed at all four bleeder screws, do no re-use the effluent brake fluid. Tighten bleeder screw – tightening torque 9 Nm / 6.6 lbf. ft.

Remove bleeding device. (Note residual pressure in the brake-fluid reservoir). Top up brake-fluid level up to the marking "MAX" and screw lid. Check brake system for leaks – see operation "Brake System, Check for Leaks".

Note:   If extremely long brake travel and low brake efficiency are established during the test drive (vehicles with ABS), repeat the bleeding procedure and simultaneously actuate the return pump via Tech 1 or Tech 2.
