Brake Caliper – Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install or Replace

  Remove

Detach rear wheel.

Remove brake linings (1) of rear wheel brake – see operation "Brake Linings- Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install or Replace".

Fill brake fluid reservoir (2) to "MAX" mark and seal with MKM-558-10.

Object Number: 2417519  Size: DEFAULT

Remove brake line (1) from brake caliper. Brake fluid escapes – collect and close off openings.

Remove fastening bolts (2) and brake caliper from rear-axle knuckle.

  Install

Install brake caliper to rear-axle knuckle – tightening torque 80 Nm / 59 lbf. ft.

If necessary: Press both brake pistons back into brake caliper using piston pusher (3) – collect escaping brake fluid.

Attach brake line (1) to brake caliper – tightening torque 16 Nm / 12 lbf. ft.

Install brake linings for rear wheel brake – see operation "Brake Linings – Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install or Replace".

Attach rear wheel – 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.

Detach MKM-558-10 from brake fluid reservoir (2).

Bleed brake system and check for leaks – see operation "Brake System, Bleed" and "Brake System, Check for Leaks".

Correct brake fluid level up to mark "MAX".
