Brake Disc, Precision Turn - Rear Brake Disc > < Brake Disc, Check for Runout

Brake Disc – Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install or Replace

  Remove

Fill brake fluid reservoir to "MAX" mark and seal with KM-558-10. Release parking brake. Remove rear wheel.

Remove brake linings – see operation "Brake Linings – Rear Wheel Brake, Replace."

Remove brake line from brake caliper.

Remove fastening bolt (1) for brake caliper from rear-axle knuckle. Detach brake caliper from brake disc.

Release parking brake adjusting unit using a screwdriver (2). Remove locking screw (3) for brake disc and remove brake disc from wheel hub.

  Inspect

Check all parts for wear. Replace damaged and worn parts.

  Install

Attach brake disc (2) to wheel hub (3) with locking screw (1) – ensure that the contact surfaces of the wheel hub and brake disc are even and free from burrs – tightening torque 4 Nm / 3 lbf. ft.

Attach brake caliper to rear axle knuckle with fastening bolts (4) – tightening torque 80 Nm / 59 lbf. ft.

Attach brake line (5) to brake caliper – tightening torque 16 Nm / 12 lbf. ft.

Install brake linings in brake caliper – see operation "Brake Linings – Rear Wheel Brake, Replace."

Bleed brake system – see operations "Brake System, Bleed " and "Brake System, Check for Leaks".

Adjust parking brake – see operation "Parking Brake, Adjust".

Attach rear wheel – 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.
