Crankshaft Bearing, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove crankshaft – see operation "Crankshaft, Remove and Install".

Remove crankshaft bearing shell.

  Inspect

Check coloured markings (1) on the main bearing. The crankshaft (2) has a yellow, green or white marking depending on the bearing tolerance and the grinding stages – see "Technical Data".

  Inspect

Pay attention to crankshaft (1) grinding stage. Measure crankshaft grinding stage using micrometer gauge. Grinding stages – see "Technical Data".

Stage 1 (0.25 mm)

Stage 2 (0.50 mm)


The bearing shells are arranged in three colour groups within the grinding stages – see "Technical Data", they are indicated by coloured markings on the bearing shells.

Coloured marking (arrow) bearing shell (2),

Coloured markings, yellow, green or white – see "Technical Data".

  Install

Insert bearing shells with same colour mark.

  Inspect

Check crankshaft bearing play – see operation "Crankshaft Bearing Play, Check".

  Install

Install crankshaft – see operation "Crankshaft, Remove and Install".
