Subject: V6 Engine Toothed Belt cover
Vehicles: Cavalier, Vectra, Calibra, Omega with V6 Engines
Condition: During removal of the toothed belt cover, the sealing tape may become damaged or loose. On refitment of the cover, the sealing tape comes into contact with the timing belt, resulting in extensive damage to the engine.
Remedy: Before installing the timing belt cover, inspect the sealing tape and, if necessary, fix in place using the correct adhesive. Ensure that any trace of dirt or oil is completely removed before fitment of sealing tape.
