Note:

 

If TECH 1 displays values for the above test steps which behave analogously to the prescribed nominal values but do not attain the required magnitude, the system should first be checked for the following mechanical faults:

 

·   Check electro-pneumatic pressure converter, bypass valve adjuster, bypass valve and corresponding pneumatic lines for correct functioning (see Service Instructions)

·   Check turbocharger (see Service Instructions)

·   Check intake system for leaks

·   Check charge air hoses for leaks (secondary air, porosity and blockages)

 

If no mechanical fault or no reaction is determined on TECH 1, start the following trouble-shooting.

 

Important:

 

If the system is in emergency operation (trouble codes 41,42 or 43 stored), the control unit provides replacement values for the charge pressure and the atmospheric pressure (cf. section 5.5 "Table 2, Digital Diesel Electronics DDE 2.1 F2:TROUBLE CODE TABLE").

 

Trouble-shooting

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

·   Ignition ON

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from charge pressure sensor P65

·   TECH 1 parameter BOOST PRESSURE

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 54

to:          wiring harness plug for charge pressure sensor P65 Ter. 1

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

 

 

 

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:      wiring harness plug for charge pressure sensor P65 Ter. 3

to:          ground

4.5 to 5.5 V

Voltage lower than 4.5 V:

·   Short circuit to ground/ circuit interruption

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 51

to:          wiring harness plug for charge pressure sensor P65 Ter. 3

 

 

 

 

 

Voltage greater than 5.5 V:

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:      wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 51

to:          wiring harness plug for charge pressure sensor P65 Ter. 3

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

 

 

 

·   Bridge wiring harness plug for charge pressure sensor P65 with electrically fused jumper

·   TECH 1 parameter BOOST PRESSURE

·   Circuit interruption
